First Startup Conference in Manchester with Collider

Great Preneurs will be hosting the first conference about Manchester Startups on the 3rd of May at Techhub Manchester. The event will start at 10.30am and finish in the late afternoon. There will be five keynotes run by Martin Bryant, Editor in Chief at TheNextWeb, Ben Taylor, Co-Founder of Fatsoma, Tim Langley, CEO and Co-Founder of CANNDi, our very own Rose Lewis, Co-Founder of Collider, and Rupert Saul, Investment Manager at AXM Venture. Further three fireside chats will be held with Rormix, which has recently closed a seed, Moment.us (a Collider startup from 2013) and Formisimo. On the day, Growot, the winner of Startup Weekend Manchester, will be demoing its product, which will be launched on Kickstarter a few days after the event.

Great Preneurs aims to gather all the people who are involved in the Manchester Startup scene in a single day event in order to reflect on what has already been achieved and where we can go in the next years. Tech of Tomorrow at Internet World!

Collider will run their Tech of Tomorrow pitching programme at Internet World on the 18th & 19th June within The Market Place Theatre. 

Collider's Tech of Tomorrow @ Internet Worldprogramme will allow a maximum of eight startups to present their innovative tech products/services to a panel of judges and to an audience of over a 100 professionals across the two days.

On the Wednesday, all eight startups will present in front of the judges and visitors then on the Thursday the winner will be announced and get the opportunity to speak about their winning product/service in front of a live audience.

How to get involved?

Collider will select six startups from their accelerator programme with the remaining two places up for grabs by applying through http://www.f6s.com/techoftomorrowinternetworld/apply. We will work closely with Collider to select the best two applications to join the other six on the stage!

*Booking opens Friday March 14th. Deadline for submission is April 18th.

The Future of Tech

Collider has been invited to host a competition at this year's Technology for Marketing & Advertising conference! This year, TFMA is bigger and better than ever and we're hosting a special event to host six of our innovative and disruptive digital startups who can solve problems a brand is facing. All six companies have solutions to common brand problems, such as:

A Christmas Collision

Last night the Collider family had a private event at Unilever House to celebrate the success of 2013 and look toward an exciting 2014. We had a great mix of familiar friends and new connections, and it was truly rewarding to see our network come together in one room. Our new brands, some who have never worked with startups, told us that the evening was the perfect opportunity to meet the companies and they are now even more excited for the programme to begin. Fuelling Your Spooky Startup; a Halloween Special

We had a great event last night at TechHub Manchester which explored the different funds that are available to startups. On our panel to discuss this was Doug Stellman from Enterprise Ventures, Darren Westlake the CEO of CrowdCube, Andrew Ko the co-founder of Manchester startup Moment.Us, and Rose Lewis the co-founder of Collider. With representation ranging from venture capital to crowd funding, the discussion was lively with plenty of questions from the audience. There was a lot of discussion around what investors look for in startups, what stage a startup needs to be at to raise finance, as well as more grueling questions concerning the pros and cons of accelerators, crowd funding, and venture capital. There was a lot of tweeting, so be sure to head over to our account to take a look at some of the responses.

We love coming to Manchester and will definitely return soon with more pizza, beer, and lively startup debate. Thanks to TechHub for putting us up for the evening, and thanks to everyone who came along instead of trick-or-treating!
